Think I Don't Know
I open the window and I see an apple treeI open it slowly so he doesn't notice me
He's as still as can be, he's just being a tree
And he thinks I don't see what he's thinking
I'd close my shades if I thought it would do any good
He's already figured out my house is made of wood
He's been taking it slow, he's moving on tiptoe
But he's ready to go, and he thinks I don't know
He thinks I don't know
He thinks I don't know
But I know what he thinks
And I'm not telling
The next door neighbor's been watching me for a week or two
She hasn't decided yet just what she's going to do
I just saw her today, she didn't know what to say
I could tell by the way she was silent
She brought me a casserole and it was pretty good
I haven't thanked her yet, I wonder if I should
She's been taking it slow, she's moving on tiptoe
But she's ready to go, and she thinks I don't know
She thinks I don't know
She thinks I don't know
But I know what she thinks
And I'm not telling
I've been watching what I think and I've been watching what I say
Cause they're watching what I do and that's the way it's going to stay
I guess I've gotten used to it but it's still tough on me
Cause sometimes I want to do things I don't want no one to see
I so you looking at me just a moment ago
You've got a friend that you tell everything you know
Go ahead take a look, write it down in your book
I saw the pictures you took in the drugstore
I'm waiting patiently for you to make your move
I know you're ready, you've got nothing left to prove
You've been taking it slow, you're moving on tiptoe
But you're ready to go, and you think I don't know
You think I don't know
You think I don't know
But I know what you think
You think I'm a crackpot
